Updated CDC Protocols - Controlling Spread During Surge

Dr. Tammy Ferguson
Fully Vaccinated or Recently Infected students or adults within 90 days will not need to quarantine if exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID.

Unvaccinated or Unprotected
(not following recommended timelines for vaccinations) students and adults will have to quarantine for five days if exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID.

Isolation is for students who have tested positive for COVID.  Those students will be in isolation for ten days.  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/k-12-contact-tracing/about-quarantine.html

Exposure is for students who have been exposed to someone who tested positive.  The quarantine for this group is five days if they are not experiencing any symptoms.  Test on day five if no symptoms to return to school.  The date of symptoms or day tested positive, whichever is earlier, counts as day zero in the count of the five days. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/k-12-contact-tracing/about-quarantine.html

All my best,
