Holiday Break Safety Protocols

Mrs. Brittany Theimer
Scenario 1: Your family attends a gathering that includes 10 or more people who do not live in your home, and your student’s unmasked time, including eating and drinking, amounts to more than 30 minutes.
Response: Prior to returning to campus, your student must present a negative Covid-19 test administered 5 days after the gathering; or your student must self-quarantine for 10 days without symptoms.

Scenario 2: Your student participates in a dance or yoga class, athletic tryout, team practice, pick-up game at the park, or organized competition that includes 30 minutes of unmasked time with 10 or more people who do not live in your home.
Response: Prior to returning to campus, your student must present a negative Covid-19 test administered 5 days after the most recent event in any of the above categories; or your student must self-quarantine for 10 days without symptoms.

Scenario 3: Your student visits a theme park, or travels out of state, or rides in an airplane.
Response: Prior to returning to campus, your student must present a negative Covid-19 test result administered 5 days after returning; or your student must self-quarantine for 10 days without symptoms.

Also, please review our updated general protocol regarding common scenarios and responses:

Scenario A: A student misses school or leaves campus due to flu/cold/Covid-19 symptoms*.
Response: The student’s siblings must also leave campus, and the symptomatic student must have a swab test to determine if Covid-19 is the cause of symptoms.
  • If the swab-test is positive for Covid-19,
    • the student with Covid-19 must quarantine for 10 days from the onset of symptoms, including at least 24 hours with no symptoms and no medication before returning to campus;
    • siblings and anyone who has had close interaction within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms must present a negative result for a test administered 5 days after the most recent close interaction with the positive family member, or quarantine for 10 days, including 24 hours without symptoms or medication.
  • If the symptomatic student swab-tests negative for Covid-19 and positive for the seasonal flu or human rhinovirus (common cold),
    • the tested student may return 5 days after the onset of symptoms, including 24 hours without symptoms or medication;
    • asymptomatic siblings may return to campus when the sibling’s negative results are received.
  • If the student swab-tests negative for Covid-19 and negative for any other virus,
    • the tested student may return after 24 hours without symptoms or medication. This does not include allergy medication and symptoms that are confirmed by a doctor to be allergy-related;
    • asymptomatic siblings may return to campus as soon as the sibling’s negative results are received;
Scenario B: A student has close interaction with a Covid-19 positive person within 48 hours of that person’s onset of symptoms or test date.
Response: The student must present a negative Covid-19 test administered 5 days after the most recent event in any of the above categories; or your student must self-quarantine for 10 days without symptoms.

Scenario C: A student tests positive for the seasonal flu or human rhinovirus (common cold).
Response: The student may return to campus 5 days after the onset of symptoms, including 24 hours without symptoms or medication.
