On April 19, 2017, The Weiss School STEM Center of Excellence hosted Charlie Duke as the second speaker for the Weiss School Distinguished Speaker Series. Mr. Duke served as a NASA Lunar Module Pilot and walked on the moon during the Apollo 16 mission. He has served as an American engineer, test pilot, and is a retired U.S. Air Force officer. He spent the afternoon at The Scripps Research Institute interacting with Weiss School students and prominent STEM professionals discussing his experience as a NASA astronaut. Mr. Duke then spent the evening speaking to Weiss School students, parents, and community members during a special interactive evening event.

News coverage of his visit was captured by The Palm Beach Post:
The Weiss School is a co-ed private school that serves gifted students in PreK-3 through 8th grade in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A Weiss School education prepares students to think analytically and creatively, act socially responsible, live vigorously, and create imaginatively in a warm and supportive educational environment.
